Après avoir lu ce billet de Paul Krugman publié hier sur le site internet du New York Times et intitulé «Les années de la honte», l'ancien secrétaire à la Défense Donald Rumsfeld a annoncé ce matin sur Twitter sa décision de se désabonner du prestigieux quotidien, jugeant «répugnante» l'opinion de l'auteur.
L'économiste de Princeton et chroniqueur du Times qualifie dans son billet George W. Bush et Rudolph Giuliani de «faux héros» qui ont exploité les attentats du 11 septembre 2001. Je le cite dans le texte :
What happened after 9/11 - and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not - was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons.
